Protein is made up of building blocks called amino acids and is essential for the growth of cells and tissue repair.

The amount of protein required for health is based on your body weight. Each individual has a recommended daily intake (RDI) for protein:

  • Males (19-70yrs): 0.84g/kg1
  • Females: (19-70yrs): 0.75g/kg1

Good sources of protein:

  • Beans and legumes
  • Eggs
  • Fish
  • Poultry and lean white meat
  • Lean red meat
